Come in

Dear Reader,

A note

This is where I keep the things I make. Articles and short stories, prose poetry and poems — some written last month, some written when I was still in school and too sure of myself. I’ve left them all up. They’re a record of how I got here.

There are photographs too, the frames I keep coming back to. And music: songs I’ve written, composed, played and sung. Somewhere in the middle of all of it sits a novella about a boy who inherits a kingdom he never asked for.

Take your time. Wander in whatever order suits you.

The written work

Fifteen years of it. Essays that argue, stories that don’t resolve neatly, and poems I wrote quickly and then couldn’t change.

Novella · Fantasy · Debut · 2023

Sam Foster grows up in Glacies, a cold and heavily engineered realm where children are trained to hold frost in their hands. When his grandfather dies, the leadership falls to him — and the story becomes a question about what it actually costs to lead.

Songs, start to finish

I write the words, work out the music, play the guitar and sing it. Original compositions — no covers, no session players.

Years of open mics across Bengaluru — The Humming Tree, Church Street Social, B Flat — and a solo set at META Literature Fest 2016. My EP Freedom of Emotions (2012, Studio Dreamcatcher) lives on Spotify, Apple Music, and most places songs do.

What the light did

Not a commercial portfolio. Just the frames I keep returning to — the ones where the light arrived before I did.

Sunbeams breaking through clouds over a tree-lined ridge
Sunbreak
Red bougainvillea flowers backlit by afternoon sun
Backlit
A cocktail glass in warm daylight at a bar counter
Still life
Purple lightning splitting a night sky over trees
Stormlight
Glass pendant lamps glowing warm in the dark
Lamplight
Piano keys in low dramatic light, black and white

About

One person, several habits

I’ve been writing publicly since 2011 and haven’t yet found a good reason to stop.

The writing came first — articles, short stories, prose poetry, poems, and eventually The King Without a Crown, a fantasy novella about inheriting a role you haven’t earned yet. The music came alongside it: I write lyrics, compose, play guitar and sing. Photography came last and is the quietest of the three. I shoot mostly for myself, and I keep the frames that surprise me.

By profession

I work in government consulting on economic planning — building district-level data models, composite development indices and policy recommendations. Power BI, Python and SQL by day; a fairly analytical way of looking at everything else by night.

I’ve stopped treating these as separate lives. A dataset and a poem ask for the same thing: look closely, find the shape underneath, then say something honest about it.
